about
Some 40 years ago Pink Floyd created a rock opera about a character named Pink and his spiritual isolation from society, figuratively referred to as 'The Wall'. 'Free Our Hearts', the new song by singer-songwriter Eric Geurts strives to bring down the walls of racism in our minds and hearts. We are afraid of the unknown (other cultures) and therefore build walls of prejudice to protect ourselves. The expansive and passionate guitar solo, Γ la David Gilmour, is both compelling and dynamic.
Black, red, white or yellow, the same blood flows through all our veins. 'Free Our Hearts' is born out of and immersed in the spirit of the age. Black Lives Matter. All Lives Matter.
PS: new bass and sax recording, extended version, remixed and remastered version!
lyrics
Down (down down)
Let's break down these walls
We are one (one one)
Divided we fall
There are cultures we don't understand
but we cannot be silent
We need to make a stand
These guarded walls are keeping us apart
It's time to free our hearts
Would you mind if I wanted to know
where can we really go?
If our hearts are made of stone
If we think nothing can be done
Would you mind if I were to say
There must be another way?
than to live in captivity
Can't we embrace our diversity
and free our hearts from fear
Let's free our hearts from fear
Let's free our hearts
"Breathe (breathe breathe)
I can't breathe"
"Dream (dream dream)
I have a dream"
What's the life of a man worth to you?
Does it matter if he's red, yellow, black or white?
The same blood is running through our veins
So let us break these chains
Would you mind if I wanted to know
where can we really go?
If our hearts are made of stone
If we think nothing can be done
Would you mind if I were to say
There must be another way?
than to live in captivity
Can't we embrace our diversity
and free our hearts from fear
Let's free our hearts from fear
Let's free our hearts
A record with Celtic and Indian musical influences, a cross-over between The Corrs and Avril Lavigne, but also a few soft acoustic piano and guitar tracks. And I co-wrote and produced it :-) Eric Geurts
